The soul earnest attains to peace well-founded

  • Buddhist – Milarepa’s Temptations in Solitude
My death unknown to any human being,
My rotting corpse unseen by birds
Could thus I die, amid this solitude,
Contented would I be,
I the devotee.
My putrid flesh sucked by the flies,
My dissolving muscles eaten by the worms
Could thus I die, amid this solitude,
Contented would I be,
I the devotee

“Escape for thy life, look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain, escape to the mountain lest thou be consumed.”
Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gormorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven.
And he overthrew those cities and all the plain and all the inhabitants of the cities and that which grew upon the ground.
But Lot’s wife looked back from behind him and she became a pillar of salt.

But he perceived their craftiness and said unto them.
“Why tempt ye me? Show me a penny. Whose image and superscription has it?”
They answered and said “Caesar’s”. And he said unto them,
“Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s,
and unto God the things which be God’s.”
